TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. The test is conducted by Educational Testing Service (ETS). The test helps students improve their English writing, speaking, reading and listening skills to study and stay in an English-speaking country.<\/p>\n<p>TOEFL is accepted in various English-speaking countries especially in the USA. Other than the USA, other countries accept TOEFL to measure one's English language proficiency, such as Canada, Ireland, Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, etc. The TOEFL iBT is delivered on computer, either at a test centre or at home with remote proctoring. Score reports issued before that date use the 0&#8211;120 scale, with four sections each scored 0&#8211;30. For two years after the change &#8212; through January 2028 &#8212; students receive both the new 1&#8211;6 band and a comparable 0&#8211;120 score to ensure a smooth transition.<\/p>\n<p>ETS states that the comparable total score printed on a score report is the <strong>midpoint<\/strong> of the band&#8217;s equivalent 0&#8211;120 range, not its lower bound. A band of 4.5, for example, is reported with a comparable score of <strong>90<\/strong>. The <em>Est. Both are the most popular English proficiency exams for Study Abroad and other Immigration programs in various countries, such as the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, etc.<\/p>\n\n<p>This table covers score reports issued on the 0&#8211;120 scale. ETS\u2019s current 1&#8211;6 band comparison is in the next section. When comparing TOEFL iBT scores with IELTS, we follow ETS\u2019s own published comparison. For example, a TOEFL iBT overall score of 75 is equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.0, and an IELTS score of 7.0 corresponds to a TOEFL iBT score between 94 and 101. ETS publishes the minimum TOEFL score for each band &#8212; 94 for IELTS 7.0, 60 for IELTS 6.0 &#8212; and the ranges below expand those minimums so that any score can be read off; ETS publishes a band of 0&#8211;4 for any score of 31 or less.
