Mondal joined Clarkson in 2007 after graduating from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Ph.D. degree in statistics. She received her bachelor of science and master of science in statistics from the University of Calcutta, India. Mondal’s principal research interest is in the area of constructions of tolerance regions for some multivariate linear models, which is a blend of multivariate data analysis and inferential procedures.

The central theme of her research is to develop tolerance factors for multivariate normal distributions and construct tolerance regions for multiple and multivariate linear regression models. In other words, Mondal uses probability theory and statistical inference to determine at what point an engineering project might fail or to assess pollution levels in a workplace. She is also involved in the formulation of theoretical problems as well as the development of statistical methodologies for problems related to bio-engineering, environmental sciences, physical therapy, etc.

Mondal is an active member of the scientific community, publishing regularly in statistics, mathematics, and engineering journals and giving more than 27 talks at national and international conferences.
