What's on the SAT® Math Test?
The Digital SAT® Math section has 44 questions in 70 minutes, split into two 35-minute modules of 22 questions each. Our free SAT Math practice test is one timed 22-question set, so you can practice a full module's pacing in a single sitting.
Two Modules, 70 Minutes
The SAT Math section is split into two modules of 22 questions, with 35 minutes for each. How you do on the first module decides whether the second one is harder or easier.
Four Types of Math
Algebra and Advanced Math make up most of the section, with 13-15 questions each. Problem-Solving and Data Analysis and Geometry and Trigonometry add 5-7 questions each. Questions from all four appear in every module.
Question Types and Calculator
You'll see multiple-choice and student-produced response questions, and about 30% are set in a real-world or science context. Bluebook, the SAT testing app, has a built-in Desmos calculator, and you can also bring an approved calculator of your own.
Who Should Take This SAT® Math Practice Test?
A short, timed SAT Math practice test is useful at every stage of SAT prep. Here's who gets the most out of it
Students Starting SAT Math Prep
Take it before you start studying to see which types of math you're already comfortable with and which need work. It gives you a starting point in 35 minutes instead of a full test day.
Students Whose Weaker Section Is Math
If Math is pulling your total score down, practicing the section on its own lets you spend your time where the points are, without sitting the Reading and Writing section every time.
Students Working on Pacing
22 questions in 35 minutes works out to roughly 95 seconds per question. A timed run shows where you slow down and which questions are worth a quick guess so you can move on.
Students With a Test Date Coming Up
In the last weeks before your SAT® date, a timed Math practice test is a quick check on accuracy and speed between full-length practice tests.

Take the Free SAT Math Practice TestWhy Take Timed SAT® Math Practice Tests?
Working through topics builds your math skills. A timed SAT Math practice test shows whether you can use them at test-day speed.
Practice at Test-Day Pace
Untimed practice hides pacing problems. With 35 minutes for 22 questions, a timed run shows whether you finish comfortably, rush the last few questions, or run out of time - and gives you a pace to aim for on the real SAT®.
See Which Types of Math Cost You Points
Reviewing your results shows where your mistakes cluster - algebra, advanced math, data analysis or geometry - so your next study session goes to the topics that will move your score.
Get Comfortable With the Calculator
The Digital SAT® lets you use its built-in Desmos calculator or an approved calculator of your own. Timed practice is where you learn when the calculator saves time and when working by hand is faster.
Make Your First Module Count
On the real test, how you do on the first Math module decides whether the second is harder or easier. Practicing accuracy under time on a 22-question set is direct preparation for that first module.

How to Get the Most From Your SAT® Math Practice Test
Three steps to turn one 35-minute practice test into a clear plan for SAT Math.
Treat It Like Test Day
The practice test can't be paused once it starts, so set aside 35 uninterrupted minutes. Sit at a desk, keep your calculator and scratch paper ready, and work without notes.
Answer Every Question
There's no penalty for guessing, on our practice test or on the real SAT®. If a question is taking too long, make your best guess and move on to the next one.
Review, Practice, Retake
Go through your performance breakdown, practice the types of math you missed, then take another timed test to check your progress.
What to Do After Your SAT® Math Practice Test
Your estimated score is a starting point. Here's how to turn it into progress.
Analyze Your Results
Look for patterns rather than single mistakes. Did you lose points on one type of math, on word problems set in context, or on the last few questions as time ran out?
Set a Math Score Goal
Use your estimated score to set a target for SAT Math, then give yourself a realistic timeline to reach it before your test date.
